Koumoto Residence

This is an old house with a long history. The design of its noren comes from the house and the tsurunoi "crane well" trademark that was created when the family ran a soy sauce factory and storehouse. The design consists of two overlapping squares meant to represent the Chinese character for "well," in addition to history and discipline. It's the same brown color as soy sauce. If you look at this house from the far bank of the Asahi River, you can see the big soy sauce storehouse. The soy sauce business was in the family for three generations. At that time, they also sold earthenware pots on a bare dirt floor.
