Mizushima Kimono and Fabric Shop

This noren features a tie-dyed family crest. It's shorter than average to allow visitors to see inside the shop, but it's very wide. During the Edo Period, Katsuyama was visited by many flatboats and was a busy spot along the Izumo Highway. Commerce prospered because of the high traffic, and there were five kimono and fabric shops here in those days. When the great writer Junichiro Tanizaki evacuated to Katsuyama in 1945, he had a good relationship with the people of Mizushima Kimono and Fabric Shop.
