Tsuji Residence

The Tsuji family's house was formerly a shop where craftsmen would sharpen dull saws. This craft is called metate in Japanese. They wanted to base their noren's design on a treasured family heirloom: a saw that was made by an ancestor who used to be one of these metate craftsmen. A special dyeing technique was used to make it look like a real saw with rust on the blade.
