Bukeyashiki: The Former Residence of the Samurai Watanabe

This house was built in 1764 for Watanabe Toubei, one of the best vassals of Miura Akitsugu, the feudal lord of Katsuyama. The residence consists of a main building, mud-walled storehouse and well surrounded by a wall with a gate in a style traditionally used for samurai dwellings. Armor, spears, clothing and ancient documents are on display in the storehouse. You can really get a feel for how the samurai lived.
