Yubara Onsen wants participants for the Japanese Giant Salamander conservation project!!
Yubara Onsen is known for the Japanese giant salamander, affectionately called “Hanzaki” by the locals. This rare species is designated as a Special Natural Monument of Japan, and its natural habitat in Yubara is also nationally protected.
This summer, Yubara Onsen will offer a unique Japanese Giant Salamander Conservation Survey Tour.
Not only can you learn about the species, but you can also take part in real ecological surveys and habitat conservation efforts. Through this hands-on experience, you'll have a rare opportunity to observe Hanzaki in its natural environment—something that's usually very difficult to do.
